Terms of Service

The short version: SLD is an AI practice tool, not a professional advisor. Be a decent human, don't abuse the service, your recordings stay yours, and if you ever pay for a plan you can cancel anytime. That's most of it — the details are below.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using SLD — the website, the Studio, or any of its practice modes — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you're using SLD on behalf of a school, team, or company, you're agreeing for that organization too and confirming you're allowed to.

2. Who can use SLD

You must be at least 13 years old to use SLD. If you're under 18, you should have a parent's or guardian's permission. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials private and for everything that happens under your account.

3. What SLD is (and isn't)

4. Your content

5. Acceptable use

Don't use SLD to:

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these rules.

6. Free and paid plans

7. Advertising

Some public pages of the site may show advertising served by Google AdSense, which helps keep the free tier free. Ads are clearly third-party content; we don't endorse what they promote. See the Privacy Policy for how ad cookies are handled.

8. Third-party services

SLD is built on services we don't control: OpenAI (transcription, coaching, live conversation), Supabase (accounts and storage), Stripe (payments, when live), and Google (advertising). Their availability affects ours, and their own terms govern their processing. If one of them has an outage, parts of SLD may stop working temporarily.

9. Availability and changes

SLD is provided "as is" and "as available." We're a small team actively building: features may change, be added, or be removed, and downtime happens (our free-tier server literally takes a nap when idle). We'll do our best, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SLD and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including decisions you make based on AI-generated feedback. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which, during early access, is zero).

11. Termination

You can stop using SLD or delete your account at any time — deletion permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable.

12. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the changes take effect. Continuing to use SLD after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: speechlearningdevelopment@gmail.com (or reach any member of the SLD team).

These terms describe how the current version of SLD operates. Before a commercial launch, have them reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction.
